Dr. Florakis is recognized as chairman of the Medical Advisory Board of the Eye Bank for Sight Restoration.

2018

Dr. Florakis is featured as a panelist on the PBS Television series, Second Opinion, discussing corneal transplants.

Dr. Herzlich becomes the Director of Resident Education at Jacobi Hospital for Montefiore Ophthalmology residents.

Dr. Herzlich is appointed to the Medical Advisor Board of The Eye Bank.

Dr. Herzlich becomes an assistant professor at Albert Einstein School of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Florakis is appointed visiting professor of The Third People’s Hospital of Chengdu/The Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Jiaotong University/The Second Affiliated Chengdu Clinical College of Chongqing Medical University and a consultant of the Ophthalmology Department in China. He is invited to speak at the 2018 Sichuan Provincial Key Teacher Training for Standardized Resident Doctor Training and the Second Symposium on the Forefront of International Clinical Medicine Training.


2016

Dr. Alexandra Herzlich is awarded the 2016 Surgical Instructor of the Year in the department of ophthalmology at Montefiore Medical Center and Jacobi Hospital. Her residents acknowledge her for her surgical talent and her ability to effectively guide them in learning the intricate techniques of ophthalmic surgery. Beyond this, her consistent availability to residents and the high level of respect she shows her patients set her apart as a caring physician and mentor.
